Choreographer, performer, and member of the collective WIVES, Aisha Sasha John is a dynamic and prolific artist. She describes her solo show, the aisha of is, which premiered at the prestigious Whitney Museum of American Art, in these terms: “I don’t know how to express anger physically. (…) A performance of fire. And water and fire. And earth.” 

An alchemical and ecstatic ritual that makes the performer the vessel of words, movement and breath, the aisha of is shapes rage to transmute it into light and opening. John is also the author of the poetry collections I have to live and THOU.
