Sam Kirmayer, jazz guitarist, composer and native Montrealer, is a young musician who plays with “a fearlessness and momentum that promise much, much more to come” – Katie Malloch. Over the past few years, he has performed with some of Canada’s finest jazz musicians including Kevin Dean, André White and Joel Miller. Following up on the April 2017 release of his debut CD, “Opening Statement”.  

Sam now presents a new organ trio project featuring drummer Dave Laing and special guest, internationally acclaimed organist Ben Paterson. Paterson has been called “as soulful an organist as exists anywhere” by Downbeat magazine and has worked with NEA Jazz Master Von Freeman, Johnny O’Neal, Peter Bernstein and many more. Kirmayer has written and arranged new music specifically for this trio and after this two-night engagement at Upstairs, the group will enter the studio to record a new CD.
