A piano recital exploring some of the greatest romantic masterpieces by Chopin, Brahms and Scriabin, alongside with one of Beethoven's last three piano sonatas Op.109.
Having recently captured the Grand Prize of the prestigious Concours Prix d'Europe in 2017, Felix Hong has emerged as one of Canada’s most promising young pianists and is featured as one of the CBC's 30 under 30 hot classical musicians.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Felix Hong started piano lessons with Po-Wen Kan for 10 years then came to Canada for his post-secondary education. He studied with Ilya Poletaev at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University and completed his Bachelor of Music in 2016, as well as an Artist Diploma the following year. Currently he is working on his Master's Degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England under the guidance of Joan Havill and Ronan O'Hora.
Felix has appeared on various competition stages. Since 2016, his accomplishments have included being awarded first prize in the Canadian Music Competition, qualifying as a finalist in the Stepping Stone Competition 2016, and qualifying as a finalist of SAI Competition in the Chautauqua Music Festival. Over the years, he also had the privilege of performing in masterclasses with renowned pianists including Jerome Lowenthal, Boris Berman, John Perry, Janina Fialkowska and many others in an array of summer music programs.
